Great to hear about the good work you continue to do Ralph!
Best to you and the family!
Proverbs 16:9, ” A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” Do I have a tangible plan for my life and eternity? Very timely and much to consider. Thanks Deacon Poyo.
I am a former Protestant. I went through RCIA in 1092. I was in my mid thirties. I am one who believes evangelization is very Important. I want to be involved in evangelizing fallen away Catholics but I do not know where or how to get involved. I am excited about the New Evangelization.
When u ou say “the 4 fundamental disciplines of the disciple”, are you referring to the 4 in Matthew Kelly’s book *The 4 Signs of a Dynamic Catholic*, prayer, study, generosity, and evangelization?
Great question Larry, I am referring to the four that I wrote about in my booklet entitled “Pick Up Your Cross and Follow Me”. (See in Website) It is a practical tool I use to help those, who have encountered the Lord, to grow in the fundamentals listed at the end of Acts Chapter two. These four, by the way, are the four major devisions of the CCC. I realized that many people were encountering the Lord in my parish Missions and had no follow up. I wrote it so they could begin to enter School of the Holy Spirit by either alone or with others.
So we have a discipline related to the profession of faith (1), another to the Sacraments (2), another to Life in Christ (3) and the 4th is prayer (4).
I’ll keep my eyes open for the book. But I’d like to know how the 1st 3 become disciplines sooner rather than later. Can you spell it out for us?
Those categories are how they were “phrased” in the CCC. The four disciplines are:
1. The Apostles Teaching – Scripture Study (&church documents)
2. The Breaking of the Bread – Eucharist (Going to Mass and being properly disposed to receive the Lord.
3. The Fellowship – Being a part of community such that you walk the journey of faith together. (Being a part of faith sharing groups where you speak the truth how difficult it is to live it!)
4. The Prayers – Establishing a daily prayer life. (Learning how to discern the voice of the Holy Spirit)
Look at the end of Acts 2
42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
Yessir. Makes sense.
